AP Classes for the 2014/15 School year -- Summer Assignments
English Literature

Students who are enrolled in Advanced Placement English Literature will be required to fulfill the following assignments before the first day of school.  Follow all instructions carefully and do your best work.  You will need to obtain your own books; they are widely available at online stores, independent and chain bookstores, and public libraries.

Do not wait until August to get started on these!             ALL DUE: First day of class.

 FICTION SELECTIONS

READ: Each pairing below novels that are similar in theme, structure, and/or genre.  (Some “pairings” will include a total of three books.) Choose the pairing that contains books that you have NOT YET read and that you will most enjoy, and come to school ready to write an essay about your choices during the first week of school in August. Do whatever you know you need to do to fully own the novel on the second line of your pairing.  Bring evidence of your close and careful reading with you to class on the first day. (Neither film versions nor study guides/summaries will serve as a viable substitute for the reading experience, of course.)
